The Five Lakes around Mt.Fuji in Autumn🍂

November 28, 2025

Hello, we are Toyoko Inn Bus🚌Autumn is well underway and it's the time of year when the leaves turn beautiful colors🍂

I recently went to the Fuji Five Lakes 🗻

The Fuji Five Lakes are the five lakes scattered around Mount Fuji: Lake Yamanaka, Lake Kawaguchi, Lake Saiko, Lake Shoji, and Lake Motosu. Along with Mount Fuji, they are registered as a World Heritage Site under the title "Mount Fuji: A Place of Sacred Worship and a Source of Artistic Inspiration."先

Lake Kawaguchiko, with its many parks and attractions, is particularly popular, but the other four lakes also offer great views and are recommended spots for their beautiful autumn foliage😍

First thing in the morning, I headed to Lake Kawaguchiko.

Amazing view✨The weather was fine and there was little wind on this day, so the reflection of Mt. Fuji on the lake surface (inverted Fuji) looked beautiful🗻

This place is called Ubuyagasaki, located just east of the north end of the Kawaguchiko Bridge. It is a very popular spot for scenic views of Mt. Fuji, Lake Kawaguchi, and the autumn leaves all at once. Even on this day, it was crowded with tourists, even though it was early in the morning😲

This place is within a 30-minute walk from Toyoko Inn Fujikawaguchiko Ohashi, so it's also recommended for an early morning stroll !

From Ubuyagasaki, I headed west along the north shore of Lake Kawaguchiko and arrived at the main venue of the Fujikawaguchiko Autumn Leaves Festival, the Momiji Corridor🍂

The Momiji Corridor will be lit up at night throughout November💡

Very nice😍There are food stalls set up around the maple corridor, so you can enjoy viewing the autumn leaves while savoring gourmet food😋

The Fujikawaguchiko Autumn Leaves Festival will be held until November 30th in 2025. It will be over soon, so if you want to see it, you should go early👍

Next I headed to Lake Yamanakako. Nagaike Waterside Park on the north shore of the lake offers an unobstructed view of Mt. Fuji🗻

Asahigaoka Lakeside Green Park on the southern shore of the lake is a beautiful place to see autumn leaves🍂

This park was the main venue for the Lake Yamanakako Autumn Leaves Festival. The festival has already ended, but the autumn leaves look set to continue for a little while longer🍂

Fujiyoshida Roadside Station is located roughly halfway between Lake Yamanakako and Lake Kawaguchiko🚙

Here you can find souvenirs and locally grown vegetables😊Nearby, there are tourist facilities related to Mt. Fuji, such as the Mt. Fuji Radar Dome Museum and the Fujisan Museum, where you can learn about the history, culture, and natural science of Mt. Fuji !

Next to the Fujisan Museum is Shozan Falls, where a walking path is available for easy walking🏃‍♂️

Next, I visited Lake Shojiko. Although some clouds appeared in the afternoon, the view was still beautiful⛅

Mt. Fuji seen from Lake Shojiko is also known as "Child-holding Fuji" because it appears to be embracing Mt. Omuro, which towers in the foreground🗻

Next I headed to Lake Motosuko.

Mt. Fuji as seen from Lake Motosuko is depicted on the back of the old 1,000 yen bill (with Hideyo Noguchi on the front)💴It was cloudy that day so we didn't go, but apparently Nakanokura Pass, about a 20-minute climb from the parking lot, is the view featured on the old 1,000 yen bill😲If you visit Lake Motosu on a sunny day, be sure to bring along an old 1,000 yen bill and compare the two🗻

Finally, I went to Lake Saiko.

Next to Lake Saiko, there is a tourist facility called "Saiko Iyashinosato Nemba." This is a reproduction of the village that existed here until 1966. The village was destroyed by a typhoon, but it is a wonderful place that has recreated the old houses and other vestiges of the past🏠

The view of Mt. Fuji from here is also picturesque and beautiful.

Also near Lake Saiko is the Narusawa Roadside Station.

Like the Fujiyoshida Roadside Station introduced earlier, you can enjoy shopping for locally grown vegetables and souvenirs, and it also has hot springs and the Narusawa Mt. Fuji Museum.

When you enter the Narusawa Mount Fuji Museum, you will be greeted by a large dinosaur model🦖The museum displays the history of Mt. Fuji and raw gemstones from around the world💎The museum is packed with content that you won't believe is free, so be sure to stop by !

In this way, I was able to enjoy the Fuji Five Lakes all day long🥰

When touring the Fuji Five Lakes and taking photos of Mt. Fuji, I recommend that you first go to the spot where you want to take the most beautiful photos📷This is just my personal opinion, but I feel like Mount Fuji is less likely to be covered in clouds in the early morning, and tends to get cloudier as the afternoon approaches⛅

Also, if you are in a place near a roadside station or tourist facility, you can have fun even if the weather is not good👍 It is a good idea to decide the order in which you visit depending on your purpose and the weather.

We are currently operates the "Fuji Five Lakes Complete Tour" departs from Toyoko Inn Fujikawaguchiko Ohashi and travels around the five lakes surrounding Mt. Fuji🗻

This is a convenient tour that takes you to Lake Kawaguchi and Lake Yamanaka, as well as Lake Saiko, Lake Shojiko, and Lake Motosu, which are not so easily accessible. Please feel free to take advantage of this opportunity.😆
