Lake Kawaguchiko Herb Festival !
July 9, 2025
Hello, we are Toyoko Inn Bus!
The rainy season has ended in the blink of an eye, and summer is finally here.
Please be careful of heat stroke by drinking plenty of water 😅🧊
The other day, I went to the Kawaguchiko Herb Festival held in Fujikawaguchiko Town, Yamanashi Prefecture !
At Oishi Park and Yagizaki Park in Lake Kawaguchiko , about 100,000 lavender plants bloom every year from late June to late July, filling the air with a wonderful fragrance.
The 2025 Herb Festival will be held from June 21st to July 21st .
I went in late June, right at the start of the festival.
The first place I went to was Yagizaki Park on the south shore of Lake Kawaguchiko 🌳
The sweet and refreshing scent of lavender😍
Apparently the flowers are blooming late this year, so on this day they were only blooming in the sunny areas.
The other areas were still in bud, so I'm sure they will be in full bloom by early July😊
The lavender had not yet bloomed, but the hydrangeas were in full bloom❤
Yagizaki Park is not only a place for lavender, but also for beautiful hydrangeas!
If you like hydrangeas, I recommend visiting a little earlier than the lavender viewing season👍
From Yagizaki Park , you can get a good view of the Rokkakudo temple , which usually floats on the surface of Lake Kawaguchiko .
This day, the water level of the lake was low , so I was able to walk there!
The willows and Mt. Fuji were very tasteful😊
The next place I visited was Oishi Park 🏃♀️ There was a lot of lavender planted in this park too.
This was also before the flowers bloomed, but it was a wonderful view that made me feel the summer 🗻
Also, early summer flowers such as roses were blooming beautifully🌹
There is also a souvenir shop (Kawaguchiko Natural Living Center) and a farm produce shop.
Lavender bouquets and blueberries from Lake Kawaguchiko were on sale in the store !
The bouquets are small and easy to carry. Lavender can be dried to enjoy for a long time✨
The blueberries are big and look delicious😋
There are several farms near the park where you can enjoy blueberry picking. The season runs from late June to late July.
Come and enjoy the taste of the season right there !
Next to Oishi Park is the stylish shopping area " Fuji Oishi Hana Terrace ."
This place has a tranquil atmosphere, with white buildings reminiscent of the European countryside and natural plantings in harmony.
There are stylish general stores and cozy cafes, so I recommend visiting it in addition to Oishi Park !
During my trip, I passed by the Kawaguchiko Music Forest Museum.
This museum is famous for its music boxes and sand art, but the rose garden is also incredibly beautiful in early summer😍
so I definitely recommend stopping by 🎵
Finally, I took the "Kawaguchiko Mt. Fuji Panorama Ropeway" to Kawaguchiko Tenjoyama Park.
Kawaguchiko Tenjoyama Park is a popular spot where you can get a panoramic view of Lake Kawaguchiko and Mt. Fuji✨
As a result, the ropeway gets very crowded with tourists waiting to board.
This time, I was able to board the ropeway about 30 minutes after purchasing my ticket.
The view keeps rising and the excitement never stops !
By the way, you can also get a good view of Toyoko INN Fujikawaguchiko Ohashi from the ropeway 🤣
And an unobstructed view of Mt. Fuji !!
After enjoying the beautiful scenery, I walked around the area.
There was a souvenir and snack shop in the park , so I had a snack🍦
The soft serve ice cream and dumplings look delicious, but this time I chose the warabimochi sweets !
The well-chilled warabimochi has a jelly-like texture and the sweetness of the brown sugar syrup and kinako(sweet soy powder) is exquisite😋
The chilled roasted green tea that came with the set was also fragrant, and I felt very refreshed under the early summer sunshine🎵
There is also a hiking trail on the Tenjoyama Park . The hiking trail from the park to the base takes about 40 minutes to an hour one way.
There is a spot along the trail where you can see hydrangeas, but unfortunately they were not in bloom this year. I'll look forward to next year👍
After descending the mountain, I took the Express Bus operated by Toyoko Inn Bus from the Toyoko Inn Fujikawaguchiko Ohashi branch to return home🚌
If you use this Express Bus , you can travel between Otsuki , Kawaguchiko , Gotemba , and Mishima for free✨
If you are a Toyoko Inn Club Card member or plan to check in or check out at any Toyoko Inn hotels on that day, you can ride this express bus😄
This is a very convenient bus, so be sure to use it when visiting the Mt. Fuji area!

Because the lavender bloomed late this year, you can still enjoy it.
Come and visit Lake Kawaguchiko in July, enveloped in the pleasant aroma of herbs !
